Sport Management (BS)

Description

The Sport Management Program at Indiana State University enables students to expand their passion for sports, leadership, and knowledge into prosperous careers in sports management, one of the world’s leading industries.

The bachelor of science (BS) in sport management provides the classroom knowledge and practical experiences students need to be successful professionals. The program places emphasis on community engagement and public service.

  • Students choose from a range of career paths that focus on facility and events, sport administration, marketing and revenue generation, sport for recreation, team management, and more.
  • Coursework is taught by experienced faculty members who are dedicated to student success and have strong networks with industry professionals.
  • Students gain additional knowledge specific to career paths of interest through specialized minors.
  • Dedicated students also have the opportunity to earn credit toward their degree through internship experience in the sport industry. This experience, in combination with courses driven by experiential learning, gives students the roots needed for success.

Minors

The Sport Management Program stresses development of programming and management competencies within a variety of settings. The program requires a minor. In order to allow students to further specialize their area of study, options for minors include but are not limited to:

  • Athletic Team Management Minor
  • Sport Facility & Event Management Minor
  • Sport Administration & Commerce Minor
  • Sport for Recreation Minor
  • Sport Marketing & Revenue Generation Minor

The Sport Management Program is committed to developing future leaders in the sport industry. The department supports each student's pursuit of a career by encouraging attendance at conferences and workshops where they have the opportunity to meet practitioners in their chosen field.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Students have many sources of financial support for their studies, including financial aid, work-study programs, veterans' benefits, and special scholarships for entering freshmen and transfer students.

In addition, the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport offers a variety of scholarships.
